Abstract Photography & Mixed Media

This body of work uses abstract photography as a starting point. As I travel around the world, I seek out inspiring, engaging, graphic compositions that can stand alone as abstracts within a simple frame. Abstract photography is the core of my work -- and my true passion.

When I find an abstract composition with lots of texture, separation between shapes, inspiring moods, etc. I often turn them into mixed media works.

My abstract mixed media artworks are produced using a simple formula: 1) a clean, clear original photograph, most requiring minimal digital processing, 2) a print on canvas using high-fidelity, long-lasting pigment inks, and 3) overpainting each canvas with acrylics (mainly clear gel mediums) that impart a dramatic textural effect resembling original paintings.

Thus, the finished works are all one-of-a-kind: although they are not produced in a "limited edition", every piece is unique and "original" because with my mixed-media process it's impossible to create two identical pieces.
